Hi Raptor, welcome back indeed! This place has been pretty much a private message board between 3rd Gen and myself. I wasn't sure anyone else could get on.
I think this will be an incredibly interesting year especially if either of our teams stumble badly (but I don't expect that). Herman and Fisher are so well compensated, that the expectations are sky high. I don't think Tom's Honeymoon period will go past this year unless we get to at least 9 wins. Likewise, I think Jimbo needs to show at least 9 wins by year two or his Honeymoon is done. Right or wrong it's the environment that they you sign on to when you are making a top 10 coaching salary. Am I wrong here? Will the respective fanbases be more patient than I'm giving then credit for?

Welcome back, man!  I'm thinking we go 7-5 , losing to Clemson, Bama, Auburn, LSU and one of either Arkansas or S. Carolina.  S. Carolina seems more likely, but I'm pessimistic about our Arkansas streak.  Also, it seems we always win one we shouldn't and lose one we shouldn't so those two things make me favor Arkansas as our 5th loss.

As always, I'd rather be wrong than right when it comes to my pessimistic predictions for the season.

Howdy, gentlemen.  I dropped off this site for a bit.  Part of it was problems logging in, but that seems to be OK now.  I've been following other blogs (Gig'em 24/7), but only viewing and not commenting.

I hope you all are well.  The past few seasons under Sumlin were frustrating.  I think he did alright overall (no losing seasons, 5 bowl games in a row, 8 win minimums (minus this past season)), but to be fair, those are minimum standards.  If you're going to be paid top notch, then you need to produce better results.  Ultimately, it was his game mismanagement and lack of player development that led to his firing.

I like Jimbo Fisher's attitude and what he's done so far.  He seems to have assembled a very good staff and the players are responding well.  I think the player development will be light-years better than the previous staffs we've had.  Starkel should start, but Mond has really improved.  Him playing as a true fish last year was rough, but he got better as the season went on.

My basic expectations haven't changed.  A&M should be winning 9 games each year (minimum) and be in the top 3 of the SEC West.  2018's schedule is tough, but so is every year in the SEC.  Playing both Clemson and bama in Sep will be tough and the Ags will most likely be 2-2 going in to October, but every other game is winnable (I think the Ags lose 2-3 of the remaining games and then win the bowl).  8-5 worst case with 9-4 being my prediction.  2019 should be 9-10 wins (if not more).

This site has historically been on life support outside of football season, but it refuses to die (lol)!  I'll jump in more often.

Come to think of it, that's a pretty good description of the nightly news!

exactly.  Short-sighted decisions, trying to make things happen without thinking about and weighing all of the possible results.

It just never ends, some keep looking for the perfect system but I don't see less problems just different ones.

I dunno, seems like the way it's going that whoever makes the decisions on matchups is avoiding it.

That the committee would never let us end up in the Championship game against each other. I think they would make us play in a semi-final. While it might be better for TV ratings not to have us play in the NC, I think it would be epic.
This is on my mind every time they release a final 4.
